How Long Does CT1 Take to Dry?

CT1 is a unique sealant and construction adhesive that’s perfect for a wide range of jobs and applications. It has been scientifically proven to retain its colour and is 360% stronger than classic hybrid polymers. Still, the question remains…how long does CT1 take to dry?

To answer this question properly, you must first understand the difference between a sealant being dry and a sealant that has fully cured.

How to tell if a sealant is dry

The obvious way to tell if a sealant has dried properly or not is to test it. Drying refers to the condition of which a sealant is dry to the touch. If it’s still wet, this indicates that there is still water and moisture present in the sealant. Once the moisture evaporates, it leaves the sealant feeling dry to the touch.

So, how long does it take CT1 construction sealant and adhesive to dry?

After many tests and trials, we have found that the average drying time for CT1 is approximately 25 to 30 minutes. This is incredibly fast as most sealants in the industry tend to take longer to dry, which can be very time-consuming if you’re in a rush. Again, we’d like to emphasise that the initial drying time is how long it takes the skin to cure. Being dry to the touch within 30 minutes is incredible. However, this does not mean that the sealant is fully cured.

How long does it take CT1 to cure?

Curing differs from drying because it refers to a far more complex state. It takes longer for sealants to cure because a chemical change is taking place. Many different influences can impact the curing time. Since the versatility of CT1 is so vast and it can be used in a multitude of diverse applications, both internally and externally, the curing time for this product can vary.

Some common factors that can influence curing time include things like the weather. Humidity plays a significant role. You may be surprised to learn that faster curing times occur in humid climates. Temperature can also impact curing time. The cooler the temperature, the slower the sealant will cure. This, of course, is generally speaking and you may or may not notice different results upon application. The good news is that because CT1 can be applied in wet conditions and even underwater, its curing time is rarely affected by things like climate and moisture, etc.

On average, CT1 takes around 12 hours to fully cure when the application is around 2 to 3mm. This time increases from 12 to 48 hours to fully cure when the sealant application measures 3 to 6 mm. For depths of 6 to 12 mm, CT1 will take approximately 48 to 72 hours to fully cure.

As you can see, the length of time for CT1 to dry and fully cure varies depending on the individual application. However, we hope that these time estimates will help give you a better idea of how long it takes CT1 to dry.
