How to use CT1 to Seal a New Kitchen Sink

If you’re doing some remodelling to your kitchen and you’re installing a new sink, you’ll also need to consider what sealant you will use to seal the sink. The new sink will need to be sealed to the countertop during the installation process. Sealing the sink helps to keep the sink securely in place while also helping to make it watertight. The last thing you want is for water to start seeping out of anywhere but the taps, which is why it’s so important to seal the sink properly. Not only that, but you’ve also got to choose the right sealant to seal a new kitchen sink.

So, which sealant should you use to seal a new kitchen sink?

CT1 – The ultimate sealant for sealing kitchen sinks

If a new sink is on the horizon, you’ll need to choose a sealant you can trust. CT1 is a unique sealant and construction adhesive made with new TRIBRID® Technology that has made it 360% stronger than traditional hybrid polymers. So, what does this mean exactly?

Well, the unique TRIBRID® Technology only found in select products from C-Tec, the creators of CT1, ensures that the sealant outperforms all other sealants on the market. It also has excellent colour retention, which means it won’t lose its colour over time. More importantly, it won’t lose its strength, no matter how much time has passed. This is an important benefit of CT1 because if you choose the wrong sealant for the job, the seal can wear over time. The old sealant can even crack, shrink, and dry out, which puts the entire strength of the initial seal at risk of failing.

To avoid this problem, CT1 was created with the ability to withhold its initial bond without cracking, drying out, or shrinking over time. It’s ideal for sealing sinks because it is water resistant and completely odourless. So, how can you use CT1 to seal your new kitchen sink?

Seal your sink with CT1

If you are installing a new kitchen sink, you can skip this first step. However, if you are replacing an old sink with a new one, you need to remove the old sealant. To do this, you can use MultiSolve from C-Tec to help remove the old sealant. Simply spray the product onto the surface of the old sealant and use a tool such as a blade to scrape the sealant away.

Once the old sealant has been removed, it’s time to prepare the area for the new sealant. You may need to clean the area to remove any residue left behind from the old sealant. It also helps to remove and oil or grease etc. that may be present. Then, you can take your mastic gun with CT1 and start to apply a bead of the sealant around the sink where it joins the counter. You can also use CT1 to seal around the taps if necessary. Try your best to make sure that the bead has no gaps to ensure proper application and finish the seal with a tool or your finger for a smooth finish.
