Wood panelling is a very popular interior trend right now. It’s a simple way to make your home look more modern and a great DIY project for anyone looking to revamp their home during lockdown.
When undertaking a project like this, you should use the best possible materials to get a professional-looking finish, even if you’re a beginner DIYer. CT1 sealant and adhesive is perfect for a project like this, as it’s so easy to use and achieve a great result.
What to consider when installing panelling
One of the main things you need to think about when installing your panelling is the longevity of bonding the wood panels to the wall. A poor-quality adhesive may lead to warping, reduced effectiveness over time, or even initially struggle to bond certain woods. However, CT1 will successfully bond to all woods without the need for additional fixings. This means no nails or screws ruining your perfect panelling finish.
CT1 is also the only sealant and adhesive product in the market that contains the revolutionary TRIBRID® Technology. This technology makes CT1 a whopping 360% stronger than any traditional hybrid polymers meaning it will outlast any other adhesive. So, if you want a great finish that lasts for so much longer, CT1 can help.
How to install panelling using CT1
Measure and mark out where you want your panels to go. If you’re cutting the panels yourself, make sure to measure each space where you want the panels to go, as your walls can warp in different places. Don’t worry about this too much, as CT1 is flexible and can powerfully bond the wood, even when it has to bend. But the panels will need to be the correct length to accommodate for this and get that professional finish.
You will need a spirit level to check that your panels are straight, so make sure you have one handy before you prepare the CT1 for application. Grab your caulking gun when you’re ready, cut the end of the CT1 nozzle off and start applying the sealant in a zig-zag pattern along the back of your first panel, making sure to go all the way to each end.
Then, place the panel on the wall, using your spirit level to check it’s correctly positioned. You might want an extra pair of hands to help you! When it’s level, press the panel firmly down along its entire length to ensure it bonds fully and securely.
CT1’s initial grab is extremely powerful, so you don’t have to keep stopping to hold the panel against the wall and wait for the adhesive to cure. After you’ve sufficiently pressed the panel to the wall using CT1, it will not need any further support or additional fixings. Meaning you can continue with your panelling and do much more, much faster! Repeat this process until all of your panels are attached.
