Embarking on a DIY project in lockdown can be a fun and productive way to spend your time. More than this, it can also improve the look and quality of your home, making it a nicer place to be. One of the best rooms in your house for embarking on a lockdown DIY project is your bathroom.
Many people might not think it’s possible to retile a bathroom themselves, but, with the right tools and products, you might be surprised as just how easy it is! CT1 sealant and adhesive is a multipurpose tool that has a wide range of applications. It can be used throughout the tiling process as its bonding power is fantastic for attaching tiles, and it’s sealing ability leaves a professional finish.
CT1 is also ideal for use in the bathroom as it’s completely waterproof. In fact, it’s got greater flexibility than any other available sealant on the market. CT1 won’t shrink and crack, and it’s far more durable than grouting. Its formidable adhesive ability ensures an instant, strong bond that means your tiles will hold in place for longer – even after exposure to varying temperatures and humidity.
How to bond tiles using CT1
First, remove any existing tiles from the wall. Use a grout rake to remove the grout or, if your grout is old and crumbling, a utility knife will do. Then use a hammer and chisel to remove the tiles one by one. Next, use a scraper to get as much of the existing adhesive off of the wall. This step is necessary so that you have a completely flat surface ready to bond your tiles to.
Your wall doesn’t need to be dry for CT1 to bond to tiles, as it’s effective in wet or dry conditions. But it is advised to clean the area of any dust, dirt, or residue first. Then, apply a thick layer of CT1 to the back of your tile and press it into position. Firmly press the tile down until it’s flush with the existing tiles and place spacers between the tiles to ensure an even tile placement. This will help you get a professional-looking finish when sealed.
CT1 forms a strong bond incredibly quickly, so you don’t need to wait and hold your tile in place. You can move on to the next one and complete your tiling project quickly.
How to seal tiles using CT1
Once all of your tiles are in place, you can use CT1 to finish the job. Grouting is often a poor choice for tiles as it wears out over time. However, CT1 is a flexible, waterproof solution that’s just as easy to apply.
Cut a small, 45-degree hole at the end of the CT1 application nozzle and start applying it as you would with grouting. Take a wet finger or use a damp cloth to press the CT1 into the crease and leave to cure. Now, your bathroom will have a great new look that’s more durable.
